Community Grant Programs
A variety of grant programs are available to provide assistance to individuals, groups and organizations planning programs and events for the community, investing in the improvement or enhancement of their storefronts, as well as to exempt property taxes for those with real property who meet the eligibility requirements.
The Discretionary Grants-in-Aid program was established to provide Regional Council a means to provide financial assistance to individuals, groups and organizations planning programs and events for the Community.

Application Intakes are quarterly with the deadline for applications being 60 days prior to the quarter the event is scheduled to be held.

Application Process
All applications must be submitted in writing to the applicable Department using the Application Form. *You must provide a clearly detailed budget showing anticipated revenues and expenses.
Please Note: Applications will NOT be considered for commitments or expenses incurred prior to approval of the grant.
As funding permits, assistance will be considered based on the following priorities:
- Youth Programs/events
- Senior Programs/events
- Programs/events with a clear benefit to disadvantaged members of the community
- Programs/events designed to improve economic, social and/or environmental well-being of the community
There must be a demonstrated financial need to justify the request. Individual Grant allocations will be a maximum amount of $1,000 and shall be for no more than one third of the anticipated total cost of the event/program.
Applications will be considered only for non-profit organizations operating within the community or contributing to the general interest, health and/or welfare of the community in its entirety.

The Community Facility Fee Waiver program was established to provide Regional Council a means to provide facility fee exemption assistance to individuals, groups and organizations planning programs and events for the Community.

Applications may be submitted anytime throughout the year, but no earlier than one year preceding the event.

Quarterly Facility Fee Waiver Awards: Supporting community events by waiving fees for eligible non-profits.
GRANT APPLICATION
The physical environment in which we live and work has a great effect on us. A community that is more appealing and interesting to the eye gives its residents a greater sense of place. The program is aimed to provide grant funding to business owners to improve retail and commercial building frontages. It is envisioned that the program will help promote the community as an appealing, interesting, and friendly place to do business, visit and live. This is an annual program, and more information is available within the Business Façade Improvement Grant Application.
The Government Transfers Program supports local non-profits in the Northern Rockies by providing transparent, fair, and accessible funding aligned with regional priorities to enhance community well-being, economy, and environment.
The program offers different grant levels for operating costs, events, and capital projects, with clear eligibility criteria and reporting requirements to ensure accountability.
Funding decisions over $15,000 are made by Council, emphasizing sustainability and partnership strengthening.
Applications are accepted through quarterly, biannual, or annual intakes, depending on the grant size, with an annual budget set based on a percentage of the prior year’s Municipal operating budget.

A permissive tax exemption is a means for Council to support non-profit organizations within the community which further Council’s objectives of enhancing quality of life (economic, social, cultural) and delivering services economically.
