Exciting Planning Projects!
We are excited to announce two planning projects that will impact the future development within Fort Nelson and the NRRM. We will be welcoming public engagement through both projects.
Downtown Revitalization Plan
The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality is undertaking a planning process to prepare a Downtown Revitalization Plan for Fort Nelson. This plan intends to support long-range goal-setting, visioning and planning to improve the downtown’s livability and increase its attractiveness to new businesses, residents, and tourists.
Based on review of existing background documents, conversations with staff, and input received from the public and stakeholders during community engagement in summer 2022, we have prepared a draft vision, guiding principles and two concept plans.
Key elements from the concept plans are outlined in the survey to spark additional conversation and inform the next stages of the plan development. The final plan may include aspects from either draft concepts or new ideas.
Please review the draft concept option package and submit your feedback in the Survey until February 5. We really appreciate your feedback! You are welcome to answer as many or as few questions as you like. Any feedback will be helpful and appreciated.
You can also view the draft concept package at the Rec Centre lobby display, or paper copies can be requested at the Municipal Town Hall. If viewing online you will likely find it helpful to keep two browser tabs open to refer back to the drawings as you complete this survey.

Parks & Trails Active Mobility Planning
Northern Rockies Regional Municipality is planning major accessibility improvements to Art Fraser Memorial Park and Andy Bailey Regional Park. Community engagement sessions and park assessments in the summer 2022 have informed draft concept plans.

We sincerely thank everyone who made the time to participate in the project in 2022. The project team is reviewing the additional feedback received on the conceptual plans and is developing the draft plans for Andy Bailey and Art Fraser Parks.
