The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality (NRRM) has paving work planned in several areas throughout the community over the next couple of weeks.
Work is anticipated to begin August 19 or 20, 2026, and is expected to take approximately 9–14 days, depending on weather conditions and any unforeseen delays.
Residents should be prepared for temporary road closures and traffic disruptions as paving progresses.
What Residents Need to Know
On the afternoon before paving is scheduled to take place in an area, contractors will place barricades to isolate the work zone for the following day.
Once paving begins:
- No vehicle traffic will be permitted through the active construction zone.
- Please ensure all vehicles, RVs, trailers, and other items are removed from the street in advance of paving.
- Residents should plan their travel accordingly and allow extra time for alternate routes.
- Freshly paved areas will be barricaded overnight while the asphalt cures.
- Residential traffic is expected to be permitted within one to two days, depending on site conditions.
Schedules may change due to weather, construction conditions, or unforeseen delays.
Planned Paving Order
Paving is currently expected to proceed in the following order:
- Town Hall/Library/Theatre Parking Lot
- Minnaker/Churchill/Maxhamish/Tuchodi Subdivision
- Birch Drive and 56 Street
- 44 Avenue and 55 Street (Landfill Road)
- Cordova Way (behind the Fire Hall)
Residents in and around these areas are encouraged to watch for barricades, signage, construction crews, and equipment.
Following posted traffic controls helps keep residents, workers, and equipment operators safe.
We appreciate the community's patience and cooperation as this paving work is completed.
