2026 General Local Election - Notice of Election by Voting

An election by voting is being held to elect six Councillors and five School Trustees. Below is everything residents need to know to vote.

Key Dates & Locations

  • General Voting Day: Saturday, October 17, 2026 — 8:00 am to 8:00 pm
    Location: Northern Rockies Regional Recreation Centre — Fitness Room (upstairs), 5500 Alaska Hwy
  • Advance Voting: Wednesday, October 7, 2026 — 8:00 am to 8:00 pm
    Location: Northern Rockies Regional Recreation Centre — Community Hall, 5500 Alaska Hwy
  • Special Voting Opportunity (Hospital patients & staff): Saturday, October 17, 2026 — 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm
    Location: Fort Nelson General Hospital, 5315 Liard Street

Elector Registration

  • No pre-registration required — register at the voting place on the day you vote.
  • Resident and non-resident property elector rules and ID requirements are available at the voting place. Resident electors must produce 2 pieces of ID (one with a signature) proving residency and identity.

Mail Ballot Voting (available to eligible resident and non-resident property electors)

  • Request deadline: 4:30 pm, Monday, October 12, 2026
  • Request form: northernrockies.ca/form/application-to-vote-by-mail
  • Submit completed forms by mail/hand to Municipal Hall (5319 50th Ave South; Bag Service 399) or email [email protected]
  • Ballot packages will begin distribution the week of September 28 (anticipated). Packages will not be mailed after October 12, 2026.
  • Return deadline: Mail ballots must be received by the Chief Election Officer before 8:00 pm on Saturday, October 17, 2026 to be counted.
