Cashier-Receptionist (Full-time Term)
Reporting to the Director of Recreation & Facilities (or designate), the Cashier–Receptionist serves as the primary receptionist for the Recreation Department. Responsibilities include accepting and processing payments; recording registrations for activities, programs, and events; issuing receipts and maintaining accurate transaction records; greeting the public and answering inquiries by phone and in person; and performing related clerical and administrative tasks, including filing, data entry, and basic record maintenance.
Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Completion of Grade 12, one year of cashier or receptionist experience, or an equivalent combination and relevant experience
- Knowledge of recreation programs and activities
- Accurate cash-handling skills, including processing payments, issuing receipts, balancing tills, and maintaining transaction records
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public and provide clear, factual information about activities and programs
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, follow department policies and procedures, maintaining high-quality work and multitask effectively
- Proficiency with computers and common applications (Microsoft Office)
- Exceptional communication skills to deliver professional, efficient, and timely customer service efficient, and timely manner
- Must pass a Police Information Check, including a Vulnerable Sector check (position of trust)
Status/Hours/Shifts
Full-time; 2 to 3 month term; 40 hours per week (includes weekends, early mornings, evenings and statutory holidays).
Rate
Cashier: $25.25 per hour as per the collective agreement. A 90% probationary rate may apply depending on the applicant’s status. Note: this is the 2024 rate and is subject to change.
