Do you have an issue that you would like to bring to Regional Council's attention? At regularly scheduled Council Meetings, residents are welcome to present their issues via a delegation to Council.

Anyone who would like to appear as a delegation at a regularly scheduled council meeting must inform the Corporate Manager in writing by 3:00 pm on the Tuesday prior to the meeting. Requests should include the topic and any presentation materials.

Delegates have a presentation time limit of 15 minutes and are limited to no more than two spokespersons. Council may ask questions after the presentation for clarification. Please review the Delegation/Petition Policy for more information. For more information on Regional Council procedures, please view the Regional Council Procedure Bylaw.

Following a delegation's appearance, any Council decisions regarding requests are not usually made until later in the meeting or during the next regular meeting.

Helpful Suggestions for an Effective Presentation

  • Arrive 15 minutes in advance of the meeting start time. Corporate Services staff will meet with you briefly to discuss any questions you may have and instruct you prior to the start of the meeting.
  • Speak clearly and directly into the microphone provided at the podium.
  • Direct your presentation to Northern Rockies Regional Council and follow council etiquette tips
  • Be concise; keep your presentation brief and to the point.
  • Participate with integrity. A collaborative and respectful approach is appreciated.
  • Do not expect an immediate answer. Your issue may be referred to staff for more information or to another meeting for further consideration.
