Under s. 58(1), the Local Government Act specifies Regional Council is required to appoint a Chief Election Officer and Deputy Chief Election Officer to conduct Local Government Elections and to direct the proceedings of voting and any referenda.

In addition to running the local government election, these officials also oversee the local School District No. 81 board election, by way of an agreement.The school district pays any costs over and above what the local government would pay in any event.
