On September 15, 2022, the Northern Rockies Regional Airport (NRRA) conducted a full-scale live emergency exercise that is required on a periodic basis by Transport Canada as a certified airport. The purpose of this mandated emergency scenario is to perform a test of the airport’s Emergency Response Plan (ERP) should a real-world aviation incident occur. These training exercises evaluate all aspects of the ERP and ensure airport safety is kept at the highest standard. In addition to airport staff, participation included Northern Rockies Fire Rescue, BCEHS, Northern Rockies RCMP, NAV Canada as well as volunteer students from Fort Nelson Secondary School who agreed to act as “victims” of the mock aircraft crash. Thank you to all involved for your participation in helping ensure the NRRA remains at its high safety standard!
