With its proximity to Fort Nelson, Parker Lake is a popular, idyllic retreat for residents who wish to enjoy recreational opportunities such as bird watching and water sports. Parker Lake has been the site of numerous bird surveys and boasts a diverse habitat of waterfowl and shorebirds. Additionally, Parker Lake borders the Parker Lake Ecological Reserve, established in 1973 and home to three rare species of BC wetland plants. You can review the detailed Parker Lake Ecological Reserve description online to find out more information about this natural haven.
The NRRM is grateful to the Peace-Fort Nelson Recreation District Crew for their work installing the dock. Part of StrongerBC Future Leaders Program, RSTBC Recreation Crews were hired in every recreation district in 2021 as part of an initiative to create jobs and opportunities targeted at young people. With outdoor recreation increasing in popularity, the use of Recreation Sites and Trails facilities also continues to rise, and the work of Recreation Crews is vital in keeping these facilities up to standard. The new dock at Parker Lake is an enhancement that will be well-enjoyed by both residents and visitors to the area. You may see RSTBC Recreation Crew at work as they tackle other projects in the region including maintenance at borrow Pits, Beaver Lake, Toad River Boat Launch and the Fort Nelson Demo Forest.
The NRRM also wishes to recognize the ongoing efforts of residents and businesses in helping sustain the beauty of this exceptional area.
Continued enjoyment of our natural environment is dependent on everyone.
