Media Release Watch Regional Council Meetings Live on YouTube
FORT NELSON – Northern Rockies Regional Council meetings will soon available to watch from the comfort of your home. Starting February 10, 2020, all regular Regional Council meetings will be recorded and live streamed via the NRRM’s YouTube Channel. Whether you are in Fort Nelson, Toad River or even outside of the region altogether, viewers have the opportunity to watch meetings live and view recordings of past meetings.
As part of their strategic commitment to meaningfully engage with residents and to foster connection between Council and the community, Regional Council began investigating options for recording meetings in 2019. Using existing hardware and free software, a cost effective system was developed and tested early in 2020. Following this trial, Regional Council resolved to begin recording and live streaming meetings on the easily accessible YouTube platform.
“As our residents are spread across 10% of the province, improving access to the local decision making process is essential,” said Northern Rockies Mayor Gary Foster, “we are very pleased to be able to offer this new streaming service at nearly no additional cost to taxpayers.”
