Evacuation Order Rescinded for the Summit Lake Wildfire - Tetsa River Area, Evacuation Alert Remains

The Evacuation Order issued June 10, 2026 at 10:00 HRS by the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality at their Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), for the following area generally described as: 

  • Along the Alaska Highway corridor from Summit Lake Campground within Stone Mountain Provincial Park (Mile 392 | KM 630 Alaska Highway); from the NW point (58°42'2.23"N 124°39'43.41"W) to the SW point of (58°38'16.21"N 124°39'40.50"W)
  • Along the Alaska Highway corridor to and including the Muskwa River Boat Launch (Mile 319 | KM 513 Alaska Highway); from the NE point (58°49'55.80"N 123°33'20.62"W) to the SE point of (58°46'58.64"N 123°30'28.12"W)
  • Excluding the Alaska Highway Corridor (Highway 97) itself, subject to closures as directed by BCWS. 

has been replaced as an Evacuation Alert, effective June 16, 2025 at 17:00 HRS.

The Evacuation Alert issued June 10, 2025 @ 10:00 hrs by the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality at their Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), for the following area as shown in the attached map in yellow which is a polygon bounded by:

  • Along the Alaska Highway corridor from the Muskwa River Boat Launch (Mile 319 | KM 513 Alaska Highway); From the NW point (58°49'55.80"N 123°33'20.62"W) to the SW point (58°46'58.64"N 123°30'28.12"W)
  • Along the Alaska Highway corridor to and including the Raspberry Creek pullout (Mile 308.2 | KM 495.5 Alaska Highway); from the NE point (58°54'36.0"N 123°19'12.0"W) to the SE point (58°52'2.95"N 123°18'31.67"W)

 has been rescinded.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:
  • Locate all family members and designate a meeting area outside the evacuation area, should an Evacuation Order be called while separated.
  • Pack essential items such as government-issued ID, medications, eyeglasses, valuable papers (e.g. insurance, credit, and mortgage information), immediate care needs for dependents and, if time and space permits, keepsakes for quick departure.
  • Prepare to move vulnerable persons, children and/or neighbours, if assistance is needed.
  • Prepare to take pets with you and move livestock to a safe area (if possible).
  • Arrange transportation for all your household members. Fill the gas tanks of personal vehicles.
  • Arrange accommodation for all members of the residence, if possible. In the event of an evacuation, Reception Centres will be opened if required.
  • Pre-register all household members on the provincial Evacuee Registration & Assistance (ERA) Tool at ess.gov.bc.ca Persons who have a BC Services Card may be eligible to receive an E Transfer using the BC Services Card App.
  • Wait for an Evacuation Order to be issued before evacuating. Monitor authentic news sources as well as NorthernRockies.ca News for the location of Reception Centres and any additional instructions.
