Community & Social Development Coordinator (Full-time Permanent)

The NRRM is looking for an experienced and motivated professional to join our Regional Development & Planning Team. The Community & Social Development Coordinator leads local community development by building partnerships, coordinating special events, and projects, and advancing initiatives that strengthen social development and resilience. Partially grant-funded by the Northern Development Initiative Trust (NDIT), the role requires identifying and pursuing funding, coordinating grant applications, maintaining grant tracking, and preparing NDIT reports (grant work comprises at least 30% of the role). The Coordinator represents the Municipality, facilitates community committees, manages partnership agreements, supports capacity building, and works with internal departments. The position requires initiative, program development, research, and project management skills; it is a salaried management role requiring a minimum 40-hour workweek plus overtime as needed.
Candidates should have a post-secondary diploma or degree in community planning, social work, community development, or a related field, or an equivalent mix of education and experience. They should have two to three years of experience in local government, community development, community service, or a related area; experience with a non-profit, NGO, or community development organization is an asset. A valid BC driver’s license is required.
The ideal candidate is proficient with computers and Microsoft Office, communicates clearly in both verbal and written forms to diverse audiences, demonstrates compassion and respect for community members facing barriers while committed to improving their well-being, and shows strong report writing, public speaking, and presentation skills.
