Lifeguard Instructor I (Full-time Permanent)

The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality is looking for an experienced Lifeguard Instructor to join our Aquatics Team. The main responsibilities include monitoring swimmers closely to ensure their safety, enforcing pool rules and regulations to prevent accidents, assisting with regular aquatic programs and special events, and teaching various swimming lessons and classes. If you have strong lifeguarding skills and enjoy teaching, we encourage you to apply! 

Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Completion of Grade 12 education is required
  • Current certifications in National Lifeguard, Swim Instructor, Standard First Aid, CPR-C/AED, and Airway Management & Oxygen Administration.
  • Minimum age 16 years; preference will be given to candidates 19 years or older due to operational requirements.
  • Exceptional communication skills to provide excellent customer service in a professional, efficient, and timely manner.
  • Frequent contact with the public requires considerable tact and diplomacy.
  • Position is considered one of trust within the Municipality; successful applicant must pass a Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector check.
Status/Hours/Shifts

Full-time; Permanent; 40 hours per week; shift work including early mornings, evenings, and weekends are required.

Rate

Lifeguard/Instructor: $33.23 per hour as per the collective agreement. A 90% probationary rate may apply depending on the applicant’s current status. This is the 2024 rate and is subject to change.
