The NRRM is looking for an experienced and motivated professional to join our Recreation Team. In this role you are responsible for leading and supervising the Recreation Operations and Maintenance staff to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the Northern Rockies Regional Recreation Centre and its associated facilities, which include two ice surfaces, the Aquatic Centre systems, rock-climbing wall, squash/racquetball court, curling rink, Community Hall, and various multi-use spaces. In addition to managing these indoor facilities, the manager oversees several outdoor areas such as parks, green spaces, and regional campgrounds. They also coordinate and manage the facility maintenance program for key municipal properties including the Northern Rockies Regional Recreation Centre. Serving as an advisor to the Director of Recreation & Facilities, the manager works closely with other Recreation Managers on operational matters involving compliance, service standards, maintenance activities, and project planning.
Candidates should hold a diploma or degree in Recreation Facility Management, Building Trades, or a related field and a minimum of at least five years of experience in facility maintenance or management, including two years in a supervisory role, or an equivalent mix of education and experience. A valid Class 5 Driver’s License is required, and Refrigeration Operator Certification is considered an asset.
The ideal candidate demonstrates a high level of proficiency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in Excel and Word. They possess a strong understanding of facility operations, including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. Exceptional organizational and research abilities are essential, along with keen attention to detail, especially for document proofreading and review. The candidate should be highly skilled in facility maintenance planning, including preventative maintenance strategies. Additionally, they must have the ability to interpret and draft complex bylaws, minutes, resolutions, agreements, and contracts. Strong coordination skills are also required to effectively manage diverse working groups with differing perspectives to successfully achieve organizational goals.
