Facility Maintenance (Full-time Permanent)
The Facilities Maintenance Worker reports directly to the Director of Recreation and Facilities or designate. This role involves performing a variety of tasks related to the maintenance and operation of municipal parks and facilities, following established practices and procedures. The work is semi-skilled and technical in nature. All recreation operations staff work collaboratively as part of a team. There are significant overlaps in responsibilities both within the operations team and among specific positions.
Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Completion of grade 12 education;
- Five years of experience in facility maintenance; diploma in facility management, building systems operation, or related field; training or certification in a building trade such as carpentry, electrical work, or plumbing; or an equivalent combination and education and relevant experience.
- Pool Operations Levels 1 & 2, Arena Ice Maker course completion, and/or specialized training in complex HVAC or DDC systems.
- A valid BC Driver’s License.
- Refrigeration Operator certification through Technical Safety BC.
- Familiarity with tools, equipment, procedures, principles, and methods related to: plumbing, carpentry, building management systems, small motors, ice making and refrigeration, and building and equipment maintenance.
- Ability to work independently, coordinate tasks effectively; adjust priorities to complete daily, weekly, monthly, and annual assignments, without disrupting or endangering public or employee access.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders, lifting/pushing/carrying heavy or light objects.
- This position is one of trust within the Municipality. The successful applicant must pass a Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector check.
Status/Hours/Shifts
Full-time Permanent; 40 hours per week; shift work required including evenings, and weekends.
Rate
Facility Maintenance: $37.87 to $40.79 per hour as per the collective agreement. A 90% probationary rate may be applicable depending upon the applicant’s current status. These rates are for 2024 and are subject to change.
