Facility Maintenance (Full-time Term)

Reporting directly to the Director of Recreation and Facilities or designate, the Facilities Maintenance worker performs diversified work related to the maintenance and operation of municipal parks and facilities and works in accordance with established practices and procedures. Work will be of a semi-skilled, technical nature. All recreation operations positions work together as part of a team and there are significant overlaps in responsibilities within the operations team as well as within specific positions.

Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Completion of grade 12 education;
  • Five years of experience in facility maintenance; diploma in facility management, building systems operation, or related field; training or certification in a building trade such as carpentry, electrical, or plumbing; or an equivalent combination and education and relevant experience;
  • Pool Ops Levels 1 & 2, Arena Ice Maker course completion, and/or specialized training in complex HVAC or DDC systems would be an asset;
  • A valid BC Driver’s License;
  • Refrigeration Operator certification through Technical Safety BC;
  • Knowledge of tools, equipment, procedures, principles, and methods in plumbing, carpentry, building management systems, small motors, ice making, refrigeration, and building and equipment maintenance;
  • Ability to work independently, coordinate tasks and change work priorities to ensure completion of daily, weekly, monthly, and annual assignments, without disrupting or endangering public or employee access to the buildings;
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders, lifting, pushing, and carrying heavy and/or light objects;
  • This position is considered a position of trust within the Municipality and the successful applicant must successfully pass a Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector check.
Status/Hours/Shifts

Full-time; 3 to 6-month Term, 40 hours per week; shift work (including evenings and weekends will be required).

Rate

Facility Maintenance: $36.07 to $38.84 per hour as per the collective agreement, a 90% probationary rate may be applicable depending upon the applicant’s current status.
