The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality is seeking an experienced and motivated professional to lead our Public Works/Airport Team. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer or designate, the Director of Public Works is accountable for the provision of effective leadership, direction, and operational support to the Public Works and Northern Rockies Regional Airport Departments. Either directly or through effective delegation, the Director will lead the operations and maintenance of municipal services including the preventative maintenance of public infrastructure; control and management of issues related to drinking water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, urban roads, rural roads, sidewalks, boulevards, solid waste management, Regional Airport operations, and cemetery. Additionally, the Director of Public Works plays an integral role in the administration and implementation of the NRRM Asset Management Program.
The position requires the ability to make concrete, well-informed, and thought-out decisions that support the overall organization and the use of resources such as human capital, supplies, products, materials, and other useable items effectively and with foresight based on available resources and available funds. As a key member of NRRM Management Team, the Director of Public Works is required to plan and manage a high-demand, complex, and varied workload while leading, coaching, and demonstrating the ability to lead, coach, and motivate staff.
Qualifications include graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a certificate/degree/diploma in Applied Science, Technologies, and Technicians program and/or a Professional Engineer eligible to practice in BC; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Additional qualifications include experience in a political, operational, and/or construction environment and a minimum of five years’ experience in a supervisory capacity.
