
Reporting to the Community Forest Corporation (CF CORP) Board of Directors, the primary responsibilities of the General Manager are to directly manage the CF CORP Limited Partnership’s Forestry, Harvesting and Silviculture operations. The General Manager develops and oversees policies and procedures, and is responsible for the day-to-day activities and management of the CF CORP.
- Hiring, appraising, supervising and mentoring staff, Developing the CF CORP’s strategic plans for the approval of the Board, Completing and conducting forestry plans that are in line with the Forest Stewardship Plan (FSP) and FNFN’s Land Management Framework (LMF)
- Harvesting and Silviculture activity supervision,
- Developing and maintaining an effective working relationship with the Ministry of Forest, Lands and Natural Resource Operations and other stakeholders
- Representing the CF CORP within the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality and Fort Nelson First Nation communities, and within the broader British Columbia Forest industry.
- Developing annual budgets and monitoring financial performance against budget
- Overseeing the financial management of the CF CORP
- Negotiating contracts and ensuring contractors provide the contracted services,
- Maintaining an effective working relationship with industry partners and stakeholders
- Preparing reports for Board meeting on the CF CORP’s results to date, the future outlook and risks to the corporation,
- Ensuring that appropriate levels of insurance coverage are required, that safety standards are established and safety rules and procedures are being followed,
- Developing corporate policies for Board approval; ensuring the policies are up-to-date and monitoring compliance with the policies,
- Overseeing operations at the CF CORP’s log sort yard,
- Marketing CF CORP logs for local and non-local sales
