The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality (NRRM) is now accepting applications for permissive tax exemptions for the 2023 taxation year. A permissive tax exemption is a means for Council to support non-profit organizations within the community which further Council’s objectives of enhancing quality of life (economic, social, cultural) and delivering services economically.
Council has revised the Permissive Tax Exemption Policy with a 3-year application and renewal process. A full application is only required every 3 years; and in each of the 2 years following approval of the application, applicants are required to submit a renewal application confirming any changes to their circumstances. If your organization completed a full application in either 2020 or 2021 (for tax exemption in 2021 and 2022 respectively) and it was approved, you will be required to complete a Renewal Application. If your organization did not submit an application last year, you will be required to complete a Full Application.
Applications must be submitted to the Director of Finance using the prescribed application form by August 31, 2022. Applications can be found on the NRRM website here or at the Town Office - Finance Department.
