Celebrating the Generosity of NorthRiver Midstream Inc and Fort Nelson First Nation
Fort Nelson, BC Aug 16, 2023 – The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality (NRRM) is pleased to accept the donation of a home made by NorthRiver Midstream Inc and the Fort Nelson First Nation (FNFN) this week. A condominium has been generously gifted to the NRRM, which will be used to provide accommodation for traveling medical professionals who come to the community for term work, ensuring the sustainability of health services in the community.
Previously used by NorthRiver Midstream Inc to accommodate staff working in the community, it was determined that based on current needs, the condo was no longer required and NorthRiver approached FNFN about the donation to support the community’s economic and social development. In consideration, FNFN suggested the donation be made to the NRRM to support healthcare services in the broader community. The collaboration demonstrated by NorthRiver Midstream Inc and FNFN in supporting health services in Fort Nelson shows the spirit of partnership and community wellbeing.
Mayor Fraser noted, “The NRRM is incredibly thankful for the generous donation. NorthRiver Midstream Inc and the Fort Nelson First Nation really are showing what it means to come together in the spirit of community growth, wellbeing, and responsibility. This positive step will assist with support for medical professionals in our communities.” The impact of this donation will not only provide a comfortable and convenient residence for medical professionals but also in enhancing the overall quality of healthcare services in our region.

Housing is one of the many incentives that the NRRM is proud to offer health professionals relocating to the community, and has been a way for many years, that even those working on term contracts can better enjoy their time in Fort Nelson. The NRRM, FNFN and NorthRiver Midstream Inc each recognize the significance of having access to medical services, as well as maintaining the personnel to deliver the services, and acknowledges the challenges faced of hosting and relocating healthcare professionals to our community.

The Fort Nelson First Nation takes immense pride in participating in this cooperative initiative alongside NorthRiver Midstream Inc and the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality. As we come together to transfer ownership of this condominium, it's more than just offering a residence for medical professionals on the move; it's an earnest gesture of welcome to those who step away from their homes to tend to our community's well-being."
The donation of this condo will alleviate challenges and expenses faced by the NRRM of sourcing and renting temporary accommodation for the professionals, while ensuring that our dedicated healthcare providers can focus on their duties while making their stay in Fort Nelson as comfortable and stress-free as possible.
