The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality is seeking an experienced and motivated professional to complement our Regional Development & Planning Team. Reporting to the Director of Regional Development & Planning, the Regional Development Officer works collaboratively to foster a variety of development initiatives that contribute to the overall economic and social well-being of the region by helping to grow a region where residents and businesses can thrive.
The Regional Development Officer has a shared degree of responsibility for the development and implementation of policies and strategies in support of the growth and diversification of the economic sectors of industry, agriculture, transportation, tourism, communications, utilities, film, trade investment, manufacturing, and retail. Working collaboratively with the Regional Development & Planning team, the Regional Development Officer also supports the development of core amenities to improve the socio-economic well-being of the residents of the NRRM including medical services, education, workforce training, social programs and services, culture, and recreation.
Qualifications include post-secondary education with an emphasis on business administration, economic development, or a related discipline along with at least 2 years of experience in economic development, business development, marketing, or a related position. Additional qualifications include excellent oral and written communication skills, presentation, and facilitation skills; well-developed interpersonal skills; ability to deal tactfully and diplomatically with a diverse group of partners and stakeholders with an aim to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships. High proficiency with computers/applications (Microsoft Office) including Word, Excel, and other Municipal systems is essential. Employment is dependent on a successful Police Information Check.
