Recreation Program Coordinator

Working with the Recreation Program Manager, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering quality programming to participants at the Recreation Centre and within the community. They will be designing new and upcoming programs/events, purchasing supplies, assisting with scheduling program staff, assisting with marketing, and generally building a stronger sense of community within the Recreation Centre and our town. In addition to working with existing programs and events, the Program Coordinator will have an opportunity to develop new programs and events within the community such as programs targeting seniors, outdoor recreation, low-income, community sustainability, improved mental health, and connectedness. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for following all protocols to ensure the safety of participants both on and off-site.

Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to provide leadership and direction to program leaders and assistants.
  • Ability to maintain an upbeat and positive attitude while interacting with the public.
  • Must possess exceptional communication skills to provide excellent customer service in a professional, efficient and timely manner.
  • Must demonstrate reliability and responsibility in the care of children.
  • Standard First Aid/CPR and experience with leading programs would be considered assets.
  • This position is considered a position of trust within the NRRM and the successful applicant must successfully pass a Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector check.

Status/Hours/Shifts

Term: 3 months, minimum of 20 hours per week. Shifts will vary; will include weekends and evenings.

Rate

Program Coordinator: $24.90 per hour as per the collective agreement (Note: 90% probationary rate may be applicable dependent upon applicant’s current status).
