Accessibility and Improvement Project Kicking Off at Andy Bailey Regional Park and Campground
The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality (NRRM) is excited to announce major accessibility improvements at Andy Bailey Regional Park and Campground with financial support from the Province of British Columbia, Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport Destination Development Fund.
Andy Bailey Regional Campground and Park is the closest campground to Fort Nelson and boasts a tranquil environment offering camping, picnicking, walking trails, swimming, and non-motorized water sporting opportunities. It is a popular spot for families, community outings and tourists.
The project will undertake improvements identified through a robust public engagement and planning process which occurred in 2022. Improvements include upgrades to washroom facilities, picnic areas and walkways; construction of a change room and screened-in shelter; installation of a dock and beach mat; establishment of accessible parking and further developments to camping areas.
The proposed improvements will promote inclusivity, making the park accessible and welcoming to all. Enhancements will also improve the area’s functionality, quality, and safety; providing opportunities for enjoyable and responsible outdoor recreation.
Detailed design is currently underway with construction to follow; the anticipated completion date for the entire project is spring 2025.
Minor disruption to visitor’s access is expected throughout the project. Updates will be communicated through the NRRM’s website and social media channels: Facebook and Twitter.
