Located less than 15 minutes from downtown Fort Nelson, British Columbia, the Northern Rockies Regional Airport (NRRA - YYE) serves the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality. The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality spans roughly 85,000 square kilometers and encompasses nearly 10% of the land mass of British Columbia.
The Municipality is located in the northeast corner of the province and is bound by the Yukon and the Northwest Territories to the north and Alberta to the east. The administrative centre of Fort Nelson is home to the greatest concentration of population and is also a service centre for the region's oil and gas, forestry and tourism industries. Smaller settlements within the boundaries of the Regional Municipality include Fort Nelson First Nation, Prophet River First Nation, Tetsa River, Toad River, Muncho Lake and Coal River.
Fort Nelson is the gateway to the beautiful Northern Rockies, as well as providing an optimum location for transportation needs going north into the Yukon and Northwest Territory where air transportation, rail, and the Alaska Highway connect.
