Public Health and Northern Health orders
Provincial restrictions remain in place to help stop the spread of COVID-19. The restrictions are made by the Provincial Health Officer (PHO) under the Public Health Act.

Masks
Wearing masks in public indoor settings is not required by public health. Wearing a mask is a personal choice. Masks are encouraged on public transit and BC Ferries, but not required.
Individual businesses and event organizers can choose to continue requiring masks on their premises. It’s important that we respect the choices of people, businesses and one another.
Masks and federally regulated travel
You must wear a mask when travelling by air and other federally regulated travel.
Masks and health care settings
You must wear a mask in all health care settings, like vaccine clinics and hospitals.
Proof of vaccination
Until April 8, proof of vaccination is required to access some events, services and businesses. Proof of vaccination and the BC Vaccine Card

Northern Health will continue to offer COVID-19 vaccine appointments at regularly scheduled clinics. Clinics will continue to be carefully planned based on vaccine registrations and appointment bookings. The NH website is the most up to date source for information on current clinic schedules and locations. |

If you or anyone in your family feels sick stay home and get tested immediately. Northern Health has an online request form for those located in the Northern Health region and using a Northern Health testing location. Please note, testing is not available for asymptomatic individuals, including testing for travel or employer requirements. Rapid antigen testing kits |
Everyone 18+ can get free rapid antigen testing kits from a pharmacy in their community. To get a free rapid antigen testing kit, you must be:
You will need your Personal Health Number (PHN) to pick up your testing kit. 1 kit contains 5 individual tests. You are allowed 1 kit every 28 days. This makes sure that everyone who wants a kit can get one. You can't pay for additional kits. A test should only be used by people who develop symptoms of COVID-19 and want to confirm a positive or negative result. The tests are not suitable for international travel requirements. |
Public health
If you are concerned about COVID-19 symptoms, do not go to the clinic. Call 8-1-1 and follow the directions you are given.
Northern Health advises the most important steps residents and visitors can take to protect themselves and our region from COVID-19 are:
- Wash your hands often and avoid touching your face.
- Stay home if you feel unwell, even with mild symptoms.
- Limit contact with people who appear to be ill.
Business guidelines for a safe restart
All BC businesses are required to have a COVID-19 safety plan and will gradually transition to new communicable disease plans. The guidelines for these plans were released by WorkSafeBC on June 28, 2021. These guidelines were developed in consultation with public health and businesses and will continue to be supported by WorkSafeBC and the PHO as they transition during Step 3 of BC's restart plan.
