The Government of Canada marked September 30th the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in honour of the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. On September 15, 2022, the Northern Rockies Regional Airport (NRRA) conducted a full-scale live emergency exercise that is required on a periodic basis by Transport Canada as a certified airport. FORT NELSON - The event involving the RCMP that occurred in Fort Nelson on September 8, 2022 involving an armed suspect at a local business has raised questions about the NRRM's Voyent Alert system, in relation to its purpose, and why alert of the incident was limited to schools and only certain organizations, and not communicated broadly community-wide.
