MEDIA RELEASE

An Emergency Ammonia Evacuation Drill Takes a Team

FORT NELSON, BC - On Monday, March 4, 2019, the Northern Rockies Regional Recreation Centre successfully completed a simulated Ammonia Evacuation, complete with a mock man-down scenario.  Completing drills like this enable our staff and our emergency services teams to practice effective procedures, reflect on their successes and make improvements where necessary. Emergency preparedness procedures are an integral part of community health and work as a key piece of public education.

The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality would like to extend thanks to Northern Rockies Fire Rescue, BC Emergency Health Services and the Northern Rockies RCMP detachment for coordinating with the Recreation Centre to complete this significant training drill. We would also like to thank Fort Nelson’s dedicated professionals and all of our Rec Centre staff and patrons for their patience, cooperation and support throughout this evacuation exercise.
