Opportunity 1: Tourism Advisory Committee

The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality (NRRM) is creating a Tourism Advisory Committee (TAC). The membership of the TAC would ideally consist of a broad representation of individuals from a wide range of tourism-related fields. It is anticipated that the main purposes of the TAC would be to:

  • assist in the implementation of the tourism-related components of the Regional Economic Strategy (2019),
  • provide advice & feedback to the NRRM on activities aimed at achieving the priorities identified in the plans, and
  • provide an industry perspective (challenges, opportunities, etc.) related to future tourism development and planning in the NRRM.

Opportunity 2: Tourism Ambassador

The NRRM, in partnership with the Fort Nelson & District Chamber of Commerce, is kicking off a Tourism Ambassador Program to improve visitors' experience, therefore creating longer stays and higher spending in the region. A tourism ambassador is a resident who is open to talking to and helping answer questions for visitors, whether at the grocery store, camping, or walking on the street. By wearing an ambassador pin, and attending a short ‘locals know’ training session, the tourism ambassadors will ensure that visitors are warmly welcomed and get to experience all the awesome things we as locals do!
