Burning Ban - Prince George Fire Centre

Effective at noon (Pacific time) on Thursday, May 23, 2019, Category 2 open burns will be prohibited throughout the Prince George Fire Centre's jurisdiction, to reduce wildfire risks and protect public safety. This prohibition will remain in effect until the public is otherwise notified.

For more information, check out the full release on this ban on the BC Wildfire webpage: http://bcfireinfo.for.gov.bc.ca/hprScripts/wildfirenews/DisplayArticle.asp?ID=3121&fbclid=IwAR0XkqMjfPRoPbHjtxVDBKfZk1rSkmGHaQz8CXdIP5hxnQfbqucnIdo0YGI

A Category 2 open fire is an open fire, excluding a campfire, that burns piled material no larger than two metres high and three metres wide, or grass over an area less than 0.2 hectares (2000 square metres) in size.

Please note that due to this change, all outstanding NRRM burn permits are now void, and no new ones will be issued until the prohibition is removed.
