Foreign Direct Investment Strategy Report

For many communities looking to diversify their economies or resurrect former sectors with new investment, understanding the factors that contribute to (including how to attract or market to) foreign investment is a relatively new, but worthwhile undertaking.  Foreign direct investment refers to either the investment in a full or controlling equity interest in a business enterprise outside the investor’s home country.

The creation of a Foreign Direct Investment Strategy was approved as a capital project for the 2017 year. With grant funding approval received in December 2016, the Invest Canada-Community Initiatives (ICCI) Program provides for 50/50 cost-sharing of the total $30,000 project budget. The contract to develop the Foreign Direct Investment Strategy was awarded to Lion's Gate Consulting Inc. in November 2017.
