FORT NELSON OUTDOOR RINK OPEN

FORT NELSON – Just in time for the Family Day weekend, the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality, has opened its outdoor ice skating rink.  In its new location along the Alaska Highway just west of the Recreation Centre, the rink offers residents the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing skate or game of pick-up hockey in the fresh air. The rink is open to everyone, is free to use and requires no appointments.

The new location is also adjacent to the local HME Sliding Hill, making the area a “one-stop-shop” for winter family fun.

In addition to the outdoor rink, there will be a number of other fun and free activities to try this Family Day (February 8th), including:

• Free Family Skate in the secondary arena,
• Free Family Shinny in the primary arena,
• Free public swim in the  aquatic centre, and
• Free facility access to the indoor track and Rotary play space.

If you have any questions about the outdoor rink or Family Day events, please contact the Northern Rockies Recreation Department at 250-774-2541 ext 2080.
