PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                          April 9, 2015

The Northern Rockies Welcomes Its New

Sustainability and Waste Reduction Coordinator

The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality is pleased to announce that Jacquie Johnston has accepted the position of Sustainability and Waste Reduction Coordinator.

Jacquie, most recently the Northern Environmental Action Team’s (NEAT) Eco Advisor in the community, will now be working directly with the Municipality helping to continue to advance sustainability issues in the NRRM. The work that she and NEAT previously did under contract to the Northern Rockies helped bring us to the point at which we are prepared to undertake an expanded agenda ourselves.

In her newly established role, Jacquie’s work will include the provision of support for the new Community Energy Management Plan, the recently developed Solid Waste Management Plan, external sustainability projects, and public education and engagement. Jacquie will also be coordinating the identification of opportunities to further a sustainability and waste reduction agenda within the NRRM’s operations, and the development and execution of plans to capitalize on them.

Jacquie brings a strong set of attributes, skills and knowledge to the position. In combination with her energy and enthusiasm, she will help the NRRM move ahead, setting a sustainable standard for remote communities.
