Preliminary Aquatic Centre Usage Rates

FORT NELSON – Since opening to the public on June 21, 2015, the Northern Rockies’ new aquatic centre and other new facilities completed as part of the final phase of the Recreation Centre, have been well used.  To capture these initial numbers, a brief analysis of attendance is provided below.

Between opening and the middle of September, Aquatic Centre usage (at over 7,000 visits) is over three-and-a-half times higher than usage during the same period in 2014.

Similar to last year, public swims are overwhelmingly the most popular swim type.

The following graphs show a break down of Aquatic Centre usage by type and a comparison of swim type/times between 2014 and 2015.

Aside from the Aquatic Centre, the other new amenities have also been popular. The convertible squash/racquet ball court has been booked 74 times and the David Bruce Room, an activity room fronting the pool deck has been used for 20 children’s birthday parties with 10 more booked over the next couple of months.

Use of the indoor walking track and Rotary childrens’ play area is not tracked as they are free amenities, but, based on casual observation, both have been used consistently.

The indoor climbing wall also has no usage data at this time as it has not been opened to the public at this point.

For more information on using these new facilities, please contact the Recreation Centre at 250-774-2541 ext. 2080 or browse through the Summer/Fall Leisure Guide.
