Royal Canadian Army Cadet Month Proclaimed



At the January 24, 2011 Regional Council meeting, Acting Mayor Eglinksi formally proclaimed February, 2011 "Royal Canadian Army Cadet Month" as follows:

WHEREAS the Royal Canadian Army Cadets can trace their history to the creation of Drill Associations in 1861, predating confederation by 6 years, and

WHEREAS the Royal Canadian Army Cadets are made up of over 25,000 youth across Canada, striving to gain leadership, citizenship and learning about the Canadian Forces, while contributing to the betterment of the Municipality.

THEREFORE I, Acting Mayor Kim Eglinski, hereby proclaim February, 2011 as "Royal Canadian Army Cadet Month" in the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality.

Major Dan Davies, joined by Jonathan Sheppard Childs, was present to receive the proclamation and provide the Regional Council with an update on the Cadet program in Fort Nelson.  They encouraged new members and volunteers to join the Northern Rockies Cadet Program.
