  • Recreation Centre Re-Opened

    The Building has been re-opened - thanks for your patience.
    Please be advised until further notice the Recreation Centre Facility is closed. We are investigating possible damage to the ammonia stack sensor due to the recent power outage. As part of our safety protocols, and out of an abundance of caution, we are closing the Recreation Centre until we can gather further information.

  • NRRM Statement on LNG Canada Announcement

    Regional Council has received many questions and comments since LNG Canada’s announcement October 1st of a positive final investment decision. The $40 billion project will see a pipeline carrying natural gas from Dawson Creek to a new processing plant on the coast in Kitimat, where it will liquefied for overseas export.

  • NRRM Acts to Preserve Ice Plant

    October 2, 2018

    At their September 24, 2018 meeting, Regional Council approved the replacement of ice making equipment at the Northern Rockies Regional Recreation Centre in response to a recent equipment failure. A pipe in the brine system (used to cool ice surfaces) broke, resulting in the brine draining from the chiller.

  • What to do with all those leaves?

    The NRRM is conducting a Vermicompost Trial Project to determine if “worm composting” is a feasible method of diverting organic waste that is currently being landfilled. (Vermicomposting is the process where earthworms are used to break down organic waste matter into a nutrient-rich soil-like material known as vermicompost.)

  • NR Delegation Attends UBCM

    The Union of BC Municipalities is an opportunity for local governments from all areas of BC to come together. This year a delegation of eight, that included Mayor Bill Streeper, Councillor Laurie Dolan, Councillor Lorraine Gerwing, Councillor Danny Soles and senior staff, joined more than 2,000 delegates from BC Local government, provincial government, related associations and media to attend this policy-making forum.
