Northern Rockies Regional Municipality

Yvette TAYLOR

I came to Fort Nelson in the Fall of 1969 as a student teacher. Upon completing my practicum, I returned to my home in Burnaby, BC. In the Fall of 1970, I returned to Fort Nelson to begin my first teaching assignment in a one room school at Summit Lake.

The following year, I accepted a teaching position in town at GW Carlson, where I taught for most of my teaching career.

I married in 1973 and we decided to make Fort Nelson our home. My three children were born and educated in Fort Nelson. As a family we became involved in community and recreational activities. Like may families, the hockey area and swimming pool became our second home.

I retired in 2012, after having been involved in the education system for more than forty years.

Retirement has allowed me to help in the raising my grandchildren and attend their special events. It has also allowed me to volunteer in the community. I am currently the vice chair on the Library Board.
