Northern Rockies Regional Municipality

Ray IRWIN

I was raised in northern BC near Dawson Creek and that is where I started my teaching career. I moved to Fort Nelson with my family twenty-three years ago while on a leave of absence from my previous district. My family loved this community and we decided to make it our home. All my children attended school here and graduated from Fort Nelson Secondary School.

I received my formal teacher training from Simon Fraser University (Political Science and Education) and took further studies at Gonzaga University (Curriculum and Admin) and at Northcentral University (Psychology).

Over the course of my 35+ year career, twenty here in Fort Nelson, I taught every grade, K-12, and was an administrator at every level in the school system. In addition to my regular duties as a teacher and administrator, I volunteered many, many hours working with my colleagues to provide extra opportunities for our students. I feel very fortunate to have been able to do this.

I am still passionate about education and schools. With your support, I will take my experience, enthusiasm and energy to the School Board and continue to work towards building the best possible school system for our students.
