Privacy and FOI

The Corporate Services Department with the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality is responsible for administering the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.  The Act governs the collection, use, protection and retention of personal information. The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality has a duty to ensure that all information collected is stored securely, is collected legitimately, is kept current and is used only for the purposes for which it is collected.

Freedom of information and protection of privacy is further regulated in the Northern Rockies according to the Northern Rockies Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Bylaw.

The Act provides for the Municipality to charge a fee for certain limited costs of providing applicants with certain records. If there are costs involved in processing a formal request, the applicant will be provided with an estimate before the application is full processed.  These fees are set in accordance with Schedule 1 of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Regulations.
