Economic Development

The Regional Development and Planning Department is charged with the responsibility of Economic Development in the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality. In this function we work to:

  • Know our economy (Oil & Gas, Forestry, and Tourism being the strongest pillars) and our community,
  • Engage in activities that result in businesses being attracted to and staying in the NRRM,
  • Seek partnerships with other levels of government, industry, First Nations, and other local agencies to make the NRRM an attractive place to do business and invest, and
  • Communicate opportunities to our local business community through
    • Project management for municipal projects that have direct economic development potential
    • Supporting local businesses and community development initiatives by sharing resources and administrative consultation.
