Northern Rockies Regional Municipality

Home-Based Business

The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality has a large number of home based businesses. From Daycares to Pilot Truck Drivers, from catalogue sales to artists, these businesses contribute greatly to our local economy and to the vibrancy of our community.

We know that it is difficult to take the plunge, so we're here to help. If you want some help as to where to get started, drop in and see us or use the following online resources from the NRRM and from other agencies.

As any business, you will need to obtain a business license from the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality. This is  to ensure that your premises is suitable for the business that you propose. You can go to our Business License section for more information.

We would also encourage you to review the Home Based Business Regulations in the Zoning Bylaw before applying, to ensure clarity with what is permitted and not permitted in various zones.  The Home Based Business, Bed and Breakfast, and Home Industry regulations are located in Sections 4.8, 4.9, and 4.10 starting on page 23 of the Zoning Bylaw No. 729, 2008.
