Northern Rockies Regional Municipality

70th Anniversary & Military Vehicle Convoy Celebration

On August 28, 2012, the Northern Rockies will host a 70th Anniversary Celebration of the Construction of the Alaska Highway, hosting the 80-vehicle strong Military Vehicle Preservation Association Convoy. Approximately 200 military vehicle enthusiasts and their families from all over the World are travelling the Alaska Highway to commemorate its construction and its role in both American and Canadian military history.

Take part - share your time - show your appreciation of our community's history! Volunteers are needed for a variety of activities: community BBQ, security, marshalling of the convoy participants and ensuring everyone has fun!

With an expected attendance of 2,000 community members and guests, and in offering the event free of charge throughout the day, we are looking for a variety of support from organizations just like yours - who are part of the community, looking for ways to celebrate our Fort Nelson's history and get up-close and personal with some vehicle and drivers who share a history as well.

If you would like to be involved, either by sharing your time or your resources (in-kind or otherwise), please contact Jaylene Arnold at jarnold@northernrockies.ca or 250-774-2541 ext. 2045.
