Garbage Collection
Residents can contact Wide Sky Disposal to arrange to have their garbage collected on a weekly basis using a bag tag system. Please call 250-774-6528 for further information for both their residential and commercial services.
Residents can also choose to dispose of their own garbage at the landfill transfer station. A typical residential load, being the back of a pick-up, loaded with domestic garbage would be $5. Please refer to our Landfill Tipping Fees and Regulations Bylaw No. 118, 1999 (PDF, opens in the NRRM's FilePro Site) for further information on guidelines and fees associated with using the landfill.
Landfill Location
The Landfill is located at the very end of 55th Street. If travelling down the Alaska Highway, through Town, turn left onto 55th Street (at the arena). You will hit dirt road for a brief period. The landfill is located at the very end.

Landfill Hours
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday - 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday - 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Prohibited Waste
The Landfill will not accept the following waste:

liquid waste of any kind
-
slurries
-
empty steel or plastic drums that have not been shredded or crushed
-
contaminated soils
-
waste asbestos
-
waste oil and lubricants
-
potentially radioactive industrial (oil-field) waste
-
refuse that is on fire or smouldering
-
lead acid batteries
-
human waste/sewage
-
chemical containers
-
loose wire
-
creosote-soaked wood
-
bovine carcasses
- hazardous waste; and
-
other items as determined by the Municipality
Please contact CCS/Hazco for further information on disposal of Industrial / Oil-field contaminated soils or Industrial Sewage at 250-774-3027. Their landfill disposal facility is located at Mile 285 Alaska Highway.
