Garbage Collection and Disposal
Residential Solid Waste Curbside Collection provides weekly pickup of waste properly placed in municipal carts. To find out more about the program and whether your residence is included in the service area please click here.
Residences outside of the collection service area are responsible for their own waste disposal.
Residents can utilize the services of a local contractor or choose to dispose of their own garbage at the landfill transfer station. A typical residential load, being the back of a pick-up, loaded with domestic garbage would be $5. Please refer to our Landfill Tipping Fees and Regulations Bylaw No. 69, 2012 for further information on guidelines and fees associated with using the landfill.
The Landfill is located at the very end of 55th Street. If traveling down the Alaska Highway, through Town, turn left onto 55th Street (at the arena). You will hit dirt road for a brief period. The landfill is located at the very end.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday – 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday – 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Landfill will not accept the following waste:
liquid waste of any kind
empty steel or plastic drums that have not been shredded or crushed
waste oil and lubricants
potentially radioactive industrial (oil-field) waste
refuse that is on fire or smouldering
lead acid batteries
- hazardous waste; and
other items as determined by the Municipality
