Water Systems Up-grade

BRIEF OVERVIEW

Last updated - July 14, 2010

Construction began in June of this year to upgrade our water system.  The project is designed to increase efficiency and capacity and provide an additional layer of water purification.

We received approximately half of the funding for this project ($2,580,000) from the Federal and Provincial governments under the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund.  We anticipate completion in the fall of this year.

Careful planning is taking place to minimize any interruption in service.  The following work is currently underway:

River Intake

  • Upgrade of the existing pump and associated pipework
  • Integration of a new control system Structural work on both the inside and outside of the well

Silt Removal System

  • A silt removal system is being constructed next to the Muskwa River to allow us to draw water from the river for a longer period of time each year - increasing the capacity of the water system and lifespan of the equipment

Booster Pump Station

  • Existing pumps are being refurbished or replaced as required
  • Integration of a new control system

UV System

  • Addition of an Ultraviolet Water Purification System to the Water Treatment Plant - provides additional layer of water purification
