Spring Fling

In May of each year, Public Works holds a Spring Fling!!!

What is the Spring Fling?
It is a Municipality sponsored program where residents can dispose of their garbage free of charge for one week in the Spring.  The week selected is typically the week before, and including Victoria Day.

It is recognized that not everyone has the ability to dispose of larger items themselves, so in addition to free landfill for residents, we offer curb-side pick-up.  Should you need to dispose of appliances, furniture, or a demolished shed for example, those items can be placed at the end of your driveway for the Public Works Crew to pick-up.

We also offer bags and gloves to the public if they wish to pick-up garbage around the community.

Non-Profit organizations such as schools, girl guides and boy scouts can earn $2 for each bag they fill.

These services are for residential refuse only.  Commercial/Industrial disposal will be subject to regular landfill tipping rates.

For further information on this service, please contact Lou-Ann Watson at (250) 774-2541 Ext. 2090 or by e-mail at publicworks@northernrockies.ca.

2011 Spring Fling will be held May 14 - 23.

  • Free Landfill for Residents starts Saturday, May 14, and ends on Victoria Day, Monday, May 23.  This is for households only.
  • Curb-side pick-up will occur May 16 - May 20
    • The demand for this service is too high to pre-arrange a scheduled pick-up.
    • The crew is not authorized to enter private property for this service. This is a Curb-side service only. If you can get the items to the road at the end of your driveway, we can pick it up for you.
