Public Hearings
What is a Public Hearing, and what is it for?Public Hearings are the principal procedural protection for property owners when a local government is enacting bylaws such as Official Community Plans, Zoning Bylaws, or Heritage Regulations.
The purpose of a public hearing is to ensure that the public has an opportunity to make representations to the local government about the proposed bylaw(s). Specifically, the Local Government Act states "all persons who believe that their interest in property is affected by the proposed bylaw must be afforded a reasonable opportunity to be heard or to present written submissions regarding matters contained in the bylaw that is the subject of the hearing."

(ALASKA HIGHWAY & LIARD HIGHWAY JUNCTION)
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a Public Hearing will be held in the Bear Pit, Town Office,
5319 - 50th Avenue South, Fort Nelson, BC at 6:00 pm on Monday, March 28th, 2011 for the
purpose of providing the public with an opportunity to make representations to the Regional
Council respecting matters contained in the following proposed bylaw:
The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality OCP Amendment Bylaw No. 44, 2011; and
The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 45, 2011.
In general terms, the purpose of the proposed Bylaw No. 44, 2011 is to amend The Fort Nelson
Northern Rockies Regional District Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 707, 2006 to change
the land use designation of the property legally described as Lot 2, District Lot 2725, Peace
River District, Plan 25242; PID: 007-890-702, located at the northwest corner of the Alaska
Highway and Liard Highway, from an Agricultural Large Holdings use to a Highway
Commercial permitted use.
In general terms, the purpose of the proposed Bylaw No. 45, 2011 is to amend The Fort Nelson
Northern Rockies Regional District Zoning Bylaw No. 729, 2008 to rezone the property legally
described as Lot 2, District Lot 2725, Peace River District, Plan 25242; PID: 007-890-702,
located at the northwest corner of the Alaska Highway and Liard Highway, from an
Agricultural Small Holdings (A-2) use to a Highway Commercial (C-2) permitted use.

between March 14th, 2011 and including March 28th, 2011 from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
