Northern Rockies Regional Municipality

Resources

The Community Development and Planning Department (CD&P) of the NRRM is a great resource for the business community in our region.  We work in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce, local business, provincial agencies, and other organizations to host events and workshops that are beneficial to the local business community.  If you have an idea for Business Breakfast workshops, tradeshow opportunities, or something completely different, please let us know.

In the past we have organized both independently and with our partners the following events:

  • "Adjusting to Change through Entrepreneurship" with Community Futures and the Chamber (2008)
  • "Meeting Green" Business Breakfast Workshop in conjunction with Footprint Management and the Chamber (fall 2008)
  • The "Horn River Basin Economic Development Symposium - Getting it Right"with many industry and local partners (fall 2008)
  • "Procurement Workshop" with ExxonMobile and the Chamber (2008)
  • "Horn River Update" with the 11 companies of the Horn River Producers Group, the Chamber, Overwaitea, and the Fort Hotel (spring 2009)

Tradeshows and Advocacy

The CD&P Department works to ensure that the interests of Businesses in the NRRM are represented at important tradeshows and other gatherings.  Following is a brief list of the shows and meetings we regularly attend:

  • BC Hunting and Sportsman's Show, Abbotsford BC. (annual)
  • BC Service Sector Tradeshow, Calgary, AB (annual)
  • Service Sector Advisory Committee (organized by the Ministry of Energy, Mines, and Petroleum Resources)
    • The Horn River Basin Report Cards are also a product of co-operation between the NRRM, SSAC, and MEMPR.
Environmental reviews, Referral Requests, and Company Notifications are received and reviewed by our office regularly, and we ensure good relations with the Minstry of Forests and Range, the Oil and Gas Commission, and Public Works and Government Services Canada as they are the most prominent Provincial and Federal entities in the NRRM
