OCP Update 2010/2011: Thank You for Sharing Your Vision!
The Official Community Plan (OCP) Bylaw No.64, 2011 is now adopted.
The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality adopted its new Official Community Plan on October 24th and would like to thank the community for your input and all those involved to help make this OCP project a success!

Process & Timeline: Regional Council Bylaw Readings, Public Hearing and Adoption
After community involvement and input, referrals, and revisions, the OCP is now in the 'Make It Happen' stage of the OCP Process for Regional Council to give Readings, hold a Public Hearing for public comments, and Adoption of the new OCP as a bylaw.

Third Reading & Adoption of the OCP Bylaw - October 24th, 2011 at 6:30pm, Bear Pit - Completed!
Following the Public Hearing at 6pm, the OCP Bylaw No. 64, 2011 was presented to Council for Third Reading and Adoption.
Public Hearing - October 24th, 2011 at 6:00pm, Bear Pit - Municipal Hall - Completed.
The community has a final opportunity to share with Council their comments for the OCP at this time. The purpose of a Public Hearing is to give all interested persons an opportunity to be heard.
First and Second Readings of the OCP Bylaw - October 11th, 2011 - Completed.
What is an Official Community Plan?
The Official Community Plan is a provincially-mandated regulatory and long-range planning document that outlines the vision, principles, goals, objectives and policies of a community regarding land use, future growth, and development.
The OCP update will cover Fort Nelson and the surrounding area. This represents the most populated areas of the Regional Municipality. It will be a collaborative process, with the community involved every step of the way.
Draft OCP Public Meeting & Open House, August 4th - Completed.
The Municipality hosted a Public Meeting & Open House to present an overview of the Draft OCP to provide an opportunity to answer any questions the public had, and hear your comments. The Public Meeting & Open House, was held on the evening of Thursday August 4th, from 6:30 - 9:00 pm at the Municipal Hall, with a presentation at 7:00 pm. The public was also encouraged to submit comment cards for additional feedback to the draft OCP document.

- Come to the Public Meeting & Open House on August 4th at 6:30pm to hear about the Draft OCP and ask questions.

Public Engagement Summary Report - Completed!
To follow the Public Workshop, the Public Engagement Summary Report is now available. The Public Engagement Summary Report provides a summary of the processes used to engage the Fort Nelson Community and gain valuable input with regard to land use, growth, and development which will be included in our new OCP. This Report includes the draft Community Vision and Guiding Principles, a summary of the public engagement processes, and results of the public engagement activities.
Thank You for Your Participation! OCP Public Workshop & Public Open House - Completed!
Thank you to everyone who attended the Public Workshop held on Saturday March 12th from 9:30am - 4pm. The Public Open House on March 12th was held from 6 - 8pm at the Municipal Hall. View the OCP Public Workshop Poster for more information. View the Workshop Schedule for Session topics and times.
The Workshop will use the goals established from the Workbooks collected from our community to discuss land use topics and identify land use objectives for the future. The Workshop will be held in different sessions where participants can choose which land use topics they want to attend, discuss major issues, future locations, and desired objectives for that topic.
