Northern Rockies Regional Municipality

Community Development

Community Development is action by people locally to create opportunities to better social conditions, particularly for those who are most disadvantaged.

Community Development is an approach that recognizes that economic, environmental and social challenges are interdependant, complex, and ever-changing.

To be effective, solutions must be rooted in local knowledge and led by community members.  Community Development promotes holistic approaches, addressing individual, community and regional levels, recognizing that these levels are interconnected.

Recent Community Development initiatives within the Northern Rockies include the Toad River Electrification Project, and the Bottle Donation Program, among others.
